The Brownie

Brownie

Brownie, the little cartoon elf seen below, had been the mascot of the Browns for years. Art Modell detested the little guy, as he thought the log didn't represent a National Football League team well. After Modell bought the team, one of his first orders of business was to eliminate little Brownie. Brownie was gradually retired, as he failed to appear on pennants, game programs, and comany letterhead. By 1968, Brownie was totally obliterated, although he still lives in our memories. Rest in Peace, Brownie!!
