Paul Brown was perhaps the greatest coach in NFL history. He revolutionalized the game in many facets. He was the first coach to bring African-American players into the professional ranks. He institutionalized the passing "pocket", and was the first coach ever to call his own plays. He had an unmatched ability to evaluate talent, evidenced by the fact that 11 Browns had Hall of Fame careers playing for him. After being released by Art Modell in 1961, he was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His career didn't end there, however, as he founded the AFL Cincinatti Bengals. Paul coached the Bengals until 1976, when he retired from coaching and stayed on as President of the Bengals. Paul Brown died in 1990, and his surviving Bengals named their new stadium after him.
